We are proud to introduce Jon Branam, The Concours Club’s Chief Driving Instructor. A Miami native, Jon began racing at age 11 and by 14 was hired as a factory driver by a major Italian kart manufacturer. As a young professional, Jon toured the world competing and representing an international brand while refining his craft and climbing the ladder competing in a prominent open wheel feeder series until running short of sponsorship funds.

Jon’s exemplary car control skills made him a natural as a stunt driver. Jon became a member of the Screen Actors Guild and appeared in multiple television commercials and movies. Jon also served as a lead driver at Walt Disney World’s Lights Motor Action! stunt show in Orlando, Florida where he started as a driver and ascended to a leadership role, training other drivers and coordinating show executions.

When Disney turned out the lights, Jon moved into a coaching and support role, aiding professional teams and drivers as their “eye in the sky." Jon has contributed to multiple wins at both the Rolex Daytona 24-Hour and the 12-Hours of Sebring. Jon has also served as an instructor and coach within the Ferrari Corso Pilota and Challenge Series. TESTING THE CIRCUIT

Recently, Helio Castroneves and Jon Branam tested the driving circuit alongside Grasser Racing Team. Their assistance helped in ensuring the driving circuit is entertaining and optimal for all skill levels: from entry-level to professionals. Multiple driving tests have been conducted and are on-going.

THE MOST ADVANCED DRIVING CIRCUIT

CIRCUIT CONTROL CENTER

Multiple strands of fiber-optic cable all converge in the Circuit Control Center where they bring data to and from the cameras, timing loops and electronic flag panels. Having recently entered the pre-operational phase, the systems are now completely interconnected and the Racetrack Engineering (RTE) team has begun building the digital database, which is the backbone of the semi-autonomous flagging system. RTE is vastly-experienced and has supported major events such as the Indy 500 and the US GP at COTA, among many others.

THE ULTIMATE LEARNING TOOLS

The Concours Club is on the cutting edge of advanced driver coaching, employing top notch staff and equipping them with the latest tools to aid members in achieving their driving goals. Partnering with GPX Stream, The Concours Club's fleet cars are all equipped with the latest data and video streaming systems. This allows coaches to track their students from the paddock, in real time, communicating with them directly and privately via radio, virtually ending right seat coaching.

A STUDY IN SIGHT LINES

It takes a driver in the track designer seat to really capture the emotion and excitement that motorsport offers. Under the tutelage of Alan Wilson, a talented designer named Bryce Engelhart has invested countless hours in the minute details of The Concours Club’s circuit. Bryce has a driving background that is clearly evident in his designs, particularly his understanding of the importance of sight lines. Bryce is responsible for championing the elevation changes built into The Concours Club’s circuit. These elevation changes are just enough to affect the driver's sight lines.

A LESSON IN RUN-OFF

A defining feature of The Concours Club is, undoubtedly, the run off. Designed with safety in mind but completely cognizant of the importance of its appearance from ground or sky, Florida-based Racelite Designs was contracted to design this feature. Working in close conjunction with the team, Racelite Designs generated over 30 options before settling on the current iconic blue variants design which is striking and unique while functional and maintainable.

Transferring the design from rendering into reality was a task for the best of the best. UK-based RoadGrip, travel the world designing and applying paint from airport runways to circuit run-off. They have worked on some of the most recognizable tracks around the world including Circuit of the Americas and Russian F1 GP.

Their expert installation and attention to detail were critical components of the simply stellar execution. RoadGrip UK was also responsible for installing the high friction paint as well as the reflective details that will facilitate night driving.
